AAP Leader Protests by Sitting in Pothole, Demands Accountability for Poor Roads

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Devendra Gautam staged a unique protest against the poor condition of city roads by sitting in a pothole near the MLA office in Sector-14.

Raising serious concerns, he pointed out that crores of rupees were spent two years ago on constructing these main roads, which have now deteriorated into potholes due to rain. These damaged roads have led to frequent accidents, yet the administration has not initiated even basic repairs.

Gautam questioned the quality of road construction, asking why national highways survive for years despite heavy rainfall and traffic, while Sonipat’s main roads fall apart every monsoon. He demanded accountability, stating that people deserve to know how their tax money is being used.

He emphasized that roads should not be built merely for ribbon-cutting ceremonies or photo-ops, but for the actual convenience and safety of the public. Gautam called for strict measures — to inquire about warranty periods from contractors, file cases against those using substandard materials, and investigate all major roads and wards to expose corrupt officials and leaders.
