Cashier Turns Out to Be the Mastermind Behind Fake Robbery, Debt Was the Motive

The case of the alleged ?8 lakh robbery from a petrol pump cashier on April 28 in Sonipat has taken a surprising turn. The Special Anti-Gangster Unit has arrested the main accused—none other than the cashier himself, Vinod, who worked at the petrol pump.

During interrogation, Vinod confessed that due to mounting debt, he orchestrated a fake robbery to escape financial pressure.

Initially, Vinod had reported to the police that he was on his way to the bank with ?8 lakh in cash from the petrol pump when two assailants in a Santro car blocked his bike, attacked him with sharp weapons, and fled with the money.

However, police found inconsistencies in his statements and conducted a deeper inquiry. Eventually, Vinod admitted that he had staged the entire robbery himself. He has been arrested, and ?3.5 lakh has been recovered so far.

ACP Rajpal confirmed that Vinod fabricated the robbery due to personal financial stress. He will be produced in court for police remand to uncover more details and recover the remaining amount.
