Chandigarh: Farmers' Protest – Police Seal City Borders

Travel Advisory Issued to Avoid Certain Routes

Under the banner of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), several farmer unions are heading towards Chandigarh on Wednesday to launch an indefinite protest for their demands. In response, the Chandigarh Police have deployed heavy security forces, sealed all entry points to the city, and issued travel advisories urging commuters to avoid certain routes.

Joginder Singh Ugrahan, president of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan), has urged farmers not to block roads, highways, or railway tracks, as it could cause inconvenience to the public. He advised farmers to stage sit-in protests along roadsides if they are stopped from advancing.

He has also appealed to all farmer unions to join the permanent protest in Chandigarh and register their dissent strongly, as the administration has yet to allocate a designated protest site.

According to official sources, the police will stop the protesting farmers at the city's borders.
