Housing Board Clerk Arrested for Accepting Bribe, Trapped by ACB in a 15,000 Rupees Deal

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team arrested a clerk posted at the Sonipat Housing Board office on Wednesday while he was accepting a bribe of 10,000 rupees. The accused clerk had demanded a bribe in exchange for transferring the ownership of a flat in Omex City.

Amit, a resident of Kaluwas village in Bhiwani, filed a complaint with the ACB, stating that about a year ago, he had purchased a BPL flat in Omex City, Sonipat, based on an agreement. To get the flat transferred in his name, he submitted the file at the Housing Board office, where he met the clerk named Vikas. According to ACB Inspector Jagjit Singh, the complainant Amit said that the accused, Vikas, had asked for 10,000 rupees in cash for the transfer and an additional 5,000 rupees after the work was completed.

Amit reported the matter to the ACB, and the team set up a trap. On Wednesday, they sent Amit with 10,000 rupees as bribe money to the accused clerk. As soon as Vikas accepted the bribe within the office premises, the ACB team swooped in and arrested him on the spot.

The accused, Vikas, is a resident of Mahendragarh district. Authorities have stated that he will be presented in court on Thursday. Further investigation is ongoing to determine whether any other employees or officials are involved in the matter.
