On the 58th Day, Dallewal Steps Out on a Stretcher

On the 58th day of his hunger strike at the Datasinghwala-Khanauri farmers’ protest site, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal came out in the open air and sunlight for the first time. Around 2 PM, Dallewal emerged from his trolley on a stretcher and expressed his gratitude, saying, “First, I bow before Guru Granth Sahib Ji, as it is only with the blessings of the Gurus that we have succeeded in compelling the central government to come to the negotiation table.”

In the presence of farmer leaders, senior doctors, and administrative officials, Dallewal was brought near his new trolley, where he spent approximately three hours in the fresh air and sunlight. Preparations are underway for a new room for Dallewal, which will take 2-3 days to complete.

Meanwhile, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, hundreds of farmers held a symbolic hunger strike in solidarity with Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s ongoing protest. Preparations for the January 26 programs announced by the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are in full swing across the country. Farmer leaders also stated that as the movement nears its one-year mark next month, large-scale events are being planned, with the framework being finalized by both unions.
