Cooperation, Prisons, Heritage, and Tourism Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini have taken significant steps to ensure respect and care for cattle. He emphasized that the public’s participation is crucial in fulfilling the vision of enriching the cattle population. Collective efforts are needed to improve the condition of cattle and promote their welfare.

On Tuesday, during Makar Sankranti, Dr. Arvind Sharma attended events as the chief guest at Nandi Gram Seva Sansthan (Nandi Gaushala) on Rohtak Road and Shri Krishna Bhagwan Gaushala in Bali Brahmanan. He remarked that serving cows is akin to serving one’s mother. He applauded PM Modi’s historic efforts to elevate the respect for cows, which have led to effective initiatives for cattle protection not only in the nation but also in the state.

Substantial Budget Increase for Cow Welfare

Dr. Sharma highlighted that before 2014, Haryana allocated only ?2 crore annually for cattle welfare. After the BJP government came into power, the Cow Service Commission was revitalized under then-CM Manohar Lal Khattar, and today, under CM Nayab Singh Saini’s leadership, the annual budget has risen to ?510 crore. Last week, CM Saini allocated ?216 crore to registered gaushalas in Panchkula, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving cattle welfare consistently.

Appeal for Public Responsibility

Addressing the large gathering, Dr. Sharma urged citizens to recognize their responsibility toward cattle and contribute to the government’s efforts in improving their conditions. During the event, Dr. Sharma inaugurated an ambulance dedicated to cow service, donated in memory of Prithvi Singh Panchal, grandfather of Manoj Panchal, the president of the Rohtak Road Gaushala.
