Stop Forcing Organizations to Make Rounds for Social Event Approvals - Singla

Media Report, Sonipat: Sanjay Singla, Convener of the Social Panchayat, has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner and SDM Sonipat through a letter to simplify the approval process for social events. He highlighted that any organization planning a social event is required by law to apply for approval at the SDM office. This application process mandates the submission of an affidavit stating compliance with all government rules, despite the same being mentioned in the application and approval letter issued by the office. Singla questioned the necessity of this affidavit.

Moreover, once the application is submitted, the office forwards it to various departments, including the police, municipal corporation, fire department, and tehsildar, for reports. The police further direct the application to relevant police stations, and the tehsildar seeks a report from the patwari. However, no time frame is set for these processes, leading to delays in approvals.

Applicants are often forced to personally follow up with these departments, making repeated visits to the corporation, police stations, patwari, and fire offices to get the necessary reports.

Singla urged the authorities to streamline the process, stating, “On one hand, the government promotes a single-window system, but on the other, applicants are made to run from pillar to post. The approval process should have a fixed timeline, and applicants should receive the approval letter directly from the SDM office without unnecessary visits.”

He appealed to the Deputy Commissioner and SDM Sonipat to address this matter urgently, eliminate unnecessary paperwork, and remove the requirement for non-objection certificates from irrelevant departments to make the process simpler and more efficient.
