Tragic Accident on Holi: Three Dead, Including Policemen

A horrific road accident occurred in Chandigarh on the morning of March 14, 2025. At the Zirakpur border, a speeding car ran over police personnel stationed at a checkpoint for Holi and a bystander, killing all three on the spot. The car was moving at such high speed that the victims got entangled in the barbed wires placed for security, leading to severe injuries and dismemberment. Upon receiving the information, police reached the scene and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

According to reports, Constable Sukhdarshan and volunteer Rajesh were inspecting a Baleno car at the Chandigarh-Zirakpur border checkpoint. Suddenly, a high-speed Polo car came from behind and rammed into the Baleno as well as the police officers. The driver of the Baleno, who was standing with the police, also became a victim of the accident.

The severe collision led to the immediate death of two police officers and the Baleno driver. After the incident, the accused driver abandoned his car and fled the scene. However, the police quickly took possession of the vehicle and arrested the suspect using CCTV footage and the car's registration number. The accused has been identified as Govind, a resident of Hallomajra, Chandigarh.

The deceased have been identified as Constable Sukhdarshan, Home Guard Rajesh (resident of Gurdaspur, Punjab), and Samarth Dua, who lived on the Punjab University campus and worked for a mobile company.
