Union Budget 2025: New Schemes for Women Entrepreneurs, Nuclear Energy Mission, and Bharat Trade Net Announced

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced, "A new scheme will be launched for 5 lakh Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe women entrepreneurs who are starting their businesses for the first time. Under this scheme, loans of up to ?2 crore will be provided over the next five years."

She further stated, "I am pleased to announce the extension of the Jal Jeevan Mission until 2028, with an increase in total expenditure."

The Finance Minister also introduced the "Nuclear Energy Mission for a Developed India," emphasizing, "Developing at least 100 GW of nuclear energy by 2047 is essential for our energy transition. To achieve this goal, amendments will be made to the Atomic Energy Act and the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act to encourage active participation from the private sector."

As part of the Nuclear Energy Mission's research and development initiatives, she revealed, "At least five indigenously developed small modular (nuclear) reactors will become operational by 2033."

Highlighting international trade advancements, Sitharaman announced, "A digital public infrastructure for international trade—'Bharat Trade Net' (BTN)—will be established. It will serve as an integrated platform for trade documentation and financing solutions and will be aligned with international best practices."

In her parliamentary speech, she concluded, "I propose to introduce a new Income Tax Bill next week.
