CNG Supply Resumes After 18 Days, Relief for Vehicle Owners

After 18 days of disruption, the CNG supply in the district has finally been restored, bringing much-needed relief to vehicle owners. They no longer have to travel to Delhi or Panipat for refueling, as all CNG stations in the district are now operational again.

The issue began on August 16, when the GAIL (India) Limited's Gauna-Bawana gas pipeline near Baghpat was damaged due to strong currents in the Yamuna River. This affected the CNG supply in Sonepat and nearby areas, forcing drivers to travel long distances for fuel.

To resolve the issue, GAIL connected its network to Indraprastha Gas Limited’s (IGL) pipeline passing through Bawana in Delhi. With this new connectivity, the CNG supply in the district has normalized. Despite the pipeline damage, GAIL had continued supplying piped natural gas (PNG) to domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers through alternate sources.

GAIL officials worked consistently to address the CNG shortage. The company entered into an agreement with IGL and connected Sonepat's pipeline to another line near Bawana. As a result, all pumps in the district are now receiving a regular CNG supply.
