Delay in Issuance of Disability Certificates Sparks Complaints

BJP State President Mohanlal Badoli visited the District Civil Hospital on Wednesday to review the facilities provided to patients. During his visit, individuals seeking disability certificates complained about delays in the process. Earlier in the day, Mayor Rajiv Jain inspected the hospital and directed officials to organize disability assessment camps twice a week.

Complaints of Delays and Lack of Equipment

Disabled individuals alleged that hospital authorities were delaying the issuance of certificates. Additionally, the hospital lacked essential medical equipment for assessments, leading to patients being referred to PGI for medical tests, causing inconvenience and wasting their time.

In response, Badoli collected applications from disabled individuals and handed them over to retired Director General Dr. Jaswant Poonia. He then instructed Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Ginny Lamba to conduct medical examinations and issue the certificates. On Wednesday, 64 individuals underwent assessments, and 24 received their certificates.

Government’s Efforts to Improve Healthcare Facilities

Speaking to the media, Badoli stated that 777 doctors would soon be assigned to various stations across the state. He emphasized that the recruitment process is complete and hospital facilities are being improved. The tender process for a 100-bed MCH wing in the hospital has been finalized, and efforts are underway to enhance facilities like the Cath Lab, Ultrasound, and MRI services.

Addressing Long Queues and Limited Medical Staff

Mayor Rajiv Jain acknowledged complaints about disabled individuals waiting in long queues without receiving their turn. He directed Civil Surgeon Dr. Jayant Ahuja and Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Swaraj Chaudhary to resolve the issue promptly. Sudhir Bhambri, President of the Divyang Seva Samiti, highlighted that only one orthopedic specialist is available in the hospital, who can examine 30 to 40 patients once a week. Additionally, doctors are often assigned to other duties, forcing patients to return without being assessed.

In response, the Civil Surgeon assured the Mayor that pending disability certificate cases are being resolved, and all issues will be addressed soon.
