Ensure Basic Facilities in Mandis: DC

In a meeting held at the Mini Secretariat on Thursday, DC Sushil Sarwan reviewed the preparations for the purchase of Kharif crops. During the meeting, he directed the concerned officials to ensure the provision of basic facilities for farmers at the grain mandis. He emphasized the need for arrangements like drinking water, cleanliness, electricity, toilets, weighing machines, bags, and tarpaulins in the mandis.

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed that the purchase of paddy should be conducted with full transparency, and farmers should receive payment for their crops within the stipulated time, without unnecessary delays. For this, he stressed the need for better coordination between the Marketing Board, the Food and Supply Department, and the commission agents. He also urged the concerned departments to complete their preparations and regularly submit reports.

Furthermore, the DC directed all SDMs to inspect the mandis and promptly address any shortcomings before the purchasing season begins. He also mentioned that security and traffic arrangements in the mandis should be well-maintained. A canteen should be set up for farmers, offering meals for just 10 rupees.

For the procurement of PR paddy, seven mandis have been allocated, including Gannaur, Gohana, Sonipat, Kharkhoda, Kathura, Kasandi, and Jakholi. Additionally, three mandis have been designated for the purchase of millet, which include Kharkhoda, Sonipat, and Gohana.

The government has set the rate for Common Paddy at 2369 rupees per quintal and for Grade-A Paddy at 2389 rupees per quintal. The rate for millet has been fixed at 2775 rupees per quintal and for maize at 2400 rupees per quintal. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Lakshit Sarin, SDM Gohana Anjali Shrotriya, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Anmol, and District Food and Supply Controller Manisha Mehra.
