Farmers Raise Objections Over Power Grid Line, Demand Relocation from Fields

Farmers from five villages raised objections on Monday over the power grid transmission line passing through their agricultural land and submitted their concerns before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), seeking a proper resolution. Responding to the grievances, SDM Dr. Nirmal Nagar assured the formation of a committee comprising five members from each affected village to address the issues.

The power grid line is being laid from Sikar in Rajasthan to Narela in Delhi, impacting villages including Sohati, Pai, Kidoli, Pehladpur, and Nizampur Khurd. Farmers from these villages expressed concern that the high-tension line is being routed through the middle of their fields, which could adversely affect farming activities.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the SDM between company officials and the farmers. During the discussion, farmers demanded that electricity poles be installed along the edges of fields rather than through the center. They also urged authorities to keep the transmission line away from residential areas.

Farmers further stated that earlier plans indicated the line would enter Delhi via Kutubgarh, which would have spared their villages. Since the route has now been changed, they insisted that their concerns be seriously considered.

The SDM assured the farmers that a joint committee from each village would be constituted to determine compensation rates and conduct on-site surveys to find a practical solution. Zila Parishad Chairperson Monika Dahiya and Rajbir Dahiya were also present during the proceedings.
