चार बच्चों की हत्या के आरोप में घिरी पूनम को लेकर उसके पति नवीन ने साइको किलर वाली थ्योरी को सिरे से खारिज कर दिया है। नवीन का कहना है कि पूनम न तो मानसिक रूप से बीमार है और न ही साइको। उसका दावा है कि पूनम बेहद चालाक है, जिसने हत्याएं करने के बाद ऐसे छिपाया कि किसी को शक तक नहीं हुआ।

नवीन ने बताया कि पूनम ने सभी को धोखे में रखा और बचने के लिए अपने बेटे तक को नहीं छोड़ा। नवीन मृत बच्ची विधि के पिता के चचेरे भाई हैं और गुरुवार को विधि की आत्मा की शांति के लिए आयोजित हवन में अपने पिता के साथ पहुंचे थे।

नवीन के मुताबिक, बेटे शुभम की मौत के बाद जब पूनम अस्पताल में दुख दिखाने का नाटक कर रही थी, तब वे उसे डिप्रेशन समझकर चंडीगढ़ तक के अस्पतालों में ले गए, लेकिन वहां कभी मानसिक बीमारी का कोई संकेत नहीं मिला। शादी से पहले एमए पास पूनम हमेशा छोटी बातों को बढ़ाकर सास से झगड़ा करती और बाद में मायके चली जाती थी। वह ड्रामा करने में निपुण थी।

बेटे और भांजी की हत्या के बाद भी वह खराब तबीयत का बहाना कर कई दिनों तक अस्पताल में भर्ती रही। नवीन ने बताया कि वह छोटे बेटे को कभी भी किसी रिश्तेदार के पास नहीं छोड़ती थी। हम समझते रहे कि बड़े बेटे की मौत के कारण वह अत्यधिक सतर्क है, लेकिन अब लग रहा है कि वह बच्चों को पालती और बाद में मार देती थी।

नवीन ने कहा कि अगर समय रहते उसके मन की बातें पता चल जातीं तो वे पहले ही कार्रवाई कर देते और बच्चों की जान बच जाती। यदि मामला सामने न आता, तो वह परिवार के दूसरे बच्चों को भी मार सकती थी। नवीन ने मांग की कि पूनम को फांसी की सजा मिलनी चाहिए।

Poonam, accused of killing four children, is not a “psycho killer” as many are claiming, says her husband Naveen. According to him, she neither suffers from mental illness nor any psychological disorder — rather, she is extremely cunning. She committed murders and hid them skillfully without letting anyone suspect her.

Naveen stated that she deceived everyone around her and didn’t even spare her own son to protect herself. Naveen is a cousin of Vidhi’s father, the deceased girl. He visited Vidhi’s house in West Ramnagar on Thursday along with his father to attend the prayer ceremony held for her soul.

He further revealed that after their son Shubham’s death, Poonam pretended to be devastated and even got herself admitted to various hospitals, including in Chandigarh, but no mental issue was ever diagnosed. She was well-educated (MA before marriage) and very clever. She often created unnecessary drama, exaggerated small issues with her mother-in-law, and would leave for her parental home after creating chaos.

Even after killing her son and niece, she again feigned illness and stayed in the hospital for several days. Naveen said she never left their second son with any relative. They believed she was being protective because of their elder son’s death, but now they realize she used to raise the children only to kill them later.

Naveen added that she frequently fought with her mother (her mother-in-law) without reason, but she never argued with him much. Had they known her intentions earlier, they would have taken action and the children could have been saved. He fears that if the truth hadn’t come out, she might have killed other children in the family too. “She didn’t even spare her own son. My brother Sandeep and I each have one son left — she could have killed them too,” he said. Naveen demands that she be given the death penalty.
