Idol Theft and Vandalism in Tanda Village Sparks Tension; Allegations Against Sarpanch

A disturbing case of idol theft and vandalism has created chaos in Tanda village of Rai. Several villagers have accused the village sarpanch and his associates of stealing and damaging the idols, demanding strict legal action.

This is the second such incident at the same spot within a month, causing widespread anger among the residents. On Tuesday, villagers installed idols of Lord Shiva and a Goddess in a plot. However, when they arrived the next morning, some idols were missing, and the broken arm of one idol was found lying at the spot.

As the news spread rapidly, villagers gathered at the location and informed the police. The police soon reached the site and began an investigation. Villagers Naresh and Prahlad stated that a similar incident had occurred on the 19th of the previous month, when newly installed idols had gone missing. At that time too, the sarpanch and his associates were named, though the matter was settled through a multi-village panchayat, where a public agreement for constructing a temple at the spot was reached.

Following the latest incident, villagers have filed a formal complaint against Sarpanch Rajesh and several others at Rai police station, seeking immediate justice.
Sarpanch Rajesh has denied any involvement, stating that the landowner of the plot where the idols were placed has been summoned by the station in-charge on Thursday, after which the matter will become clear.
