India-Chile Partnership to Reach New Heights: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "This is President Gabriel Boric’s first visit to India, and his commitment to strengthening India-Chile relations is commendable. I extend my special welcome to him. In today’s discussions, we identified several new initiatives to enhance cooperation in the coming decade. We also welcome the increase in mutual trade and investment."

PM Modi further stated, "We have instructed our teams to initiate discussions on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The partnership in critical minerals will be strengthened, and efforts will be made to establish a resilient supply and value chain. India is ready to share its positive experiences with Chile in areas such as digital public infrastructure, renewable energy, railways, and space."

The Prime Minister also mentioned, "We see Chile as the gateway to Antarctica. We welcome the agreement between both countries on the 'Letter of Intent' to enhance cooperation in this vital region. It is a matter of pride that the people of Chile have embraced yoga as a way of healthy living. The declaration of November 4 as National Yoga Day in Chile is inspiring for all of us. We have also explored ways to enhance cooperation in Ayurveda and traditional medicine in Chile."

He added, "The growing cooperation in the defense sector reflects our deep mutual trust. We will move forward in developing defense industrial manufacturing and supply chains based on each other’s needs. At a global level, both India and Chile agree that all tensions and disputes should be resolved through dialogue."
