Municipal Corporation Fines 11 for Pollution Violations, Imposes Penalty of ?4.50 Lakh

The Municipal Corporation has intensified its crackdown on those contributing to pollution. On Thursday, corporation officials took action at 11 different locations and imposed fines amounting to ?4.50 lakh.

Due to the rising pollution levels, the GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) has been enforced, under which private construction activities were banned. Despite this, several parts of the city continued to witness activities that increased pollution. In response, the Municipal Corporation began strict inspections.

During these checks, fines were issued to 11 individuals involved in open dumping of building materials, construction work, and other pollution-causing activities on Gohana Road, Bahalgarh Road and Rathdhana Road. Penalties ranged from ?5,000 to ?50,000.

To combat increasing pollution, the Municipal Corporation is preparing large-scale measures. It plans to purchase five additional anti-smog guns to remove dust particles from the environment and clean trees and plants. The corporation is also working on acquiring three road-sweeping machines to clear dust from streets and is planning to set up a waste-management plant to prevent pollution caused by open dumping of construction debris.
