Second Accused Arrested in 1.63 Crore Petrol Pump Fraud Case

In a fraud case involving ?1.63 crore taken on the pretext of helping set up a petrol pump, Sonipat’s Bahalgarh police have arrested the second accused, Dhirendra alias Tony, a resident of Badkhalsa village. One accused had already been arrested earlier.

Amit, a resident of Laxman Vihar in Gurugram, lodged a complaint with Bahalgarh police stating that he owns land in Kharkhoda that is currently under dispute. His lawyer Ravindra introduced him to a man named Sushil. Sushil convinced him that he could help get a petrol pump sanctioned on the land, claiming he had connections with a judge posted in Chandigarh.

Sushil later introduced Amit to a man named Sombir in Chandigarh, who identified himself as the judge’s gunman. Gaining Amit’s trust, the accused allegedly extracted a total of ?1.63 crore from him for completing documents, clearing objections on the land, and other formalities. Once they received the money, they cut all contact.

Realizing he had been cheated, Amit filed a police complaint. Police had earlier arrested Sushil, a resident of Kumaspur, and have now taken Dhirendra alias Tony into custody on production warrant. The accused has been presented before the court and remanded to two days of police custody.
