STF Nabs ?5,000 Rewarded Murder Accused in Encounter, Bullet Hits His Leg

The Sonipat STF apprehended a ?5,000 reward-carrying murder accused after an encounter at the Sampla Bypass late Wednesday night around 12:30 am. During the exchange of fire, the accused, Anuj alias Doctor, a resident of Baharli Basti in Gokulgarh, Rewari, sustained a bullet injury in his leg.

He was immediately taken to the government hospital in Kharkhoda and later referred to Khanpur Women Medical College Hospital after receiving first aid. DSP Indiver stated that on October 15, 2025, Anuj and his associates had kidnapped Ankit, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, Rewari, and brutally assaulted him in the Gokulgarh forest. Ankit later succumbed to his injuries, following which murder charges and provisions of the SC/ST Act were added.

Investigations revealed that the crime was carried out as part of a pre-planned conspiracy, with Anuj playing a key role. While five accused had already been arrested, Anuj was absconding. Acting on a tip-off, the STF cordoned off the area, during which the accused opened fire at the police. In retaliatory action, police fired two rounds, one of which struck the accused’s leg, leading to his arrest.

A country-made pistol and three cartridges were recovered from the spot. Based on the statement of STF ASI Rajinder, a case of attempt to murder has been registered at Kharkhoda police station. Police officials said the accused has a long criminal history, with nine cases registered against him under various sections including attempt to murder, NDPS Act, POCSO Act, Arms Act and SC/ST Act.
