Storm Havoc: Over 100 Trees and More Than 70 Electric Poles Uprooted

 A strong storm that hit the district late Wednesday evening brought life to a standstill. Around 100 trees and more than 70 electric poles were reportedly uprooted, leading to a major disruption in the power supply.

In the busy Kachche Quarter Market area, a large tree was uprooted completely, damaging a nearby cart. Upon receiving the information, Municipal Corporation Mayor Rajiv Jain visited the site to assess the situation.

Following the storm, people faced significant challenges in commuting. While light rain provided some relief from the heat, the widespread power outage added to the inconvenience.

In the Rail Highrise Society, parts of a building broke off and fell onto a parked car below.

According to officials from the electricity department, the initial assessment indicates around 70 poles have been damaged, but a complete picture will emerge only after a thorough inspection. Restoration teams have been deployed across affected areas.
