Woman Killed After Being Hit by Drunk Roadways Bus Driver in Sonipat

A woman lost her life after being hit by a Haryana Roadways bus near Jagsi village on the Safidon–Gohana road. At the time of the incident, she had gone to graze goats along with her husband. The deceased has been identified as Naresh.

According to her husband, Kapur Singh, the bus driver was drunk and driving at a high speed in a reckless manner. Based on his complaint, Baroda police station has registered a case.

Kapur Singh stated that he and his wife had taken their goats towards Bichpadi village along the Gohana–Safidon road. Near a petrol pump, a farmer was stripping sugarcane, and Naresh had gone to collect sugarcane fodder for the animals. As she approached the road, a Haryana Roadways bus coming from the Gohana side hit her head-on.

The impact threw Naresh onto the road, while the driver fled the spot. He later stopped the bus at the village bus stand, where the victim’s husband confronted him. The bus was found to be from the Jind depot, and the driver, who identified himself as Manoj, reportedly smelled strongly of alcohol.

Naresh was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Gohana and later referred to PGI Khanpur, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
