Approval for Social Events Becomes a Tedious Task for Organizations – Singla

Sanjay Singla, Convener of Samaj Panchayat, has written to the Deputy Commissioner and SDM of Sonipat, urging them to simplify the approval process for social events. He highlighted that any organization planning a social event must apply for approval at the SDM office as per the law. Along with the application, an affidavit is mandated, stating compliance with all government-issued regulations. Singla questioned the necessity of this affidavit, as the application already includes such declarations, and the approval document issued by the office also mentions all terms and conditions.

Additionally, Singla pointed out that after submitting the application, the office forwards it to various departments, such as the police, municipal corporation, fire department, and tehsildar, for their reports. The police department further sends it to respective police stations, and the tehsildar’s office seeks reports from patwaris. However, no specific timeline is defined for these processes in any department, resulting in delays in approvals.

He further mentioned that applicants are often required to personally visit these departments, including police stations, patwaris, and fire offices, to collect the reports, leading to repeated rounds of the offices.

Singla emphasized that while the government aims to implement a single-window system, such procedures contradict this initiative. He appealed to the Deputy Commissioner and SDM to take note of the issue, set a time limit for the process, and ensure that applicants can obtain approval directly from the SDM office within a defined timeframe without unnecessary rounds of various departments. He also requested the removal of redundant paperwork and non-essential no-objection certificates from the process to make it more efficient and applicant-friendly.
