India Strikes Pakistan in 'Operation Sindoor'; High Alert Across Haryana, Punjab, Himachal, and Chandigarh

India launched a retaliatory airstrike on Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’ between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, eliminating over 100 terrorists across 9 locations.

Following the strike, a high alert has been declared in Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh. In Haryana, Ambala has been placed on high alert, drone operations have been prohibited, and Railway Protection Force (RPF) teams are conducting continuous checks at Ambala Cantt. The Haryana Congress has cancelled all events scheduled under its "Save the Constitution" rally.

In Punjab, schools in five border districts—Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka, and Firozpur—have been shut until further notice. The Kartarpur Corridor, connecting India and Pakistan, has also been temporarily closed. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal have cancelled their scheduled visits to Nawanshahr and Jalandhar.

All 22 flights from Amritsar Airport have been cancelled and operations will remain suspended until 5:30 PM on May 10. Similarly, all flights from Chandigarh Airport have also been halted.

In Himachal Pradesh, CM Sukhvinder Sukhu has cancelled his scheduled visits and convened a high-level meeting in Shimla. Security has been tightened at tourist locations across the state.
