Major Probe into Illegal Sand Mining in Yamuna; Committee Inspects Site for Over an Hour, Report to be Submitted Soon

A major investigation has been launched into alleged violations of mining regulations near Asadpur village in the Yamuna river, where Jelcova Buildcon Pvt. Ltd. is accused of unauthorized sand mining and tampering with the river's natural course. Acting on these serious allegations, a three-member committee formed by the Deputy Commissioner of Sonipat conducted an on-site inspection that lasted for over an hour.

The committee, led by SDM Subhash Chandra, included Mining Officer Anil Kumar, Executive Engineer Ashish Kaushik from the Irrigation Department, Regional Officer from the Pollution Control Board, and Station House Officer Jan Mohammad from the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, Mimarpur Police Station, among others.

During the visit, the team investigated the alleged diversion of the Yamuna's flow, the creation of illegal access paths, and the absence of site demarcation pillars. After wrapping up the inspection around 3 PM, the committee stated that the report will be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner shortly, and strict action will be taken against any party found guilty.

This probe comes in the wake of an earlier report from the Irrigation Department, which highlighted the use of heavy machinery and environmental violations. Based on that report, a formal case has already been registered at the Mimarpur Police Station under the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau. The police team also visited the site and is now conducting a parallel investigation.
