Negligence Detected: Mayor Rajiv Jain Reaches Site Unexpectedly, Halts Ongoing Work

The Public Works Department had initiated pothole-filling work on Kakroi Road. However, due to improper execution, Municipal Corporation Mayor Rajiv Jain personally reached the site, stopped the work, and firmly stated that "either fill the potholes properly or the Municipal Corporation will take over the task."

Rajiv Jain called Executive Engineer of PWD, Prashant Kaushik, and informed him about the on-ground situation. He pointed out that the potholes were neither being cleaned properly nor were stones being compacted using a roller, which would result in the gravel getting scattered on the roads within a few days.

He emphasized that the Municipal Corporation is also carrying out pothole-filling in other parts of the city, and any substandard work would damage the reputation of the Corporation.

In response, Prashant Kaushik clarified that the same contractor who reconstructed the road is now responsible for filling the potholes under the Defect Liability Period. He assured that all potholes would be refilled properly.

Additionally, Mayor Rajiv Jain visited Tiranga Chowk, where sewer diversion work had left the road excavated. Due to the soil settling, a large pothole had formed, and he instructed that proper filling material be placed to level the surface.
