No Leniency Will Be Shown Towards Those Involved in the Drug Trade – DC Dr. Manoj Kumar

• The government’s clear message is to take the strictest action against those involved in the drug trade.
• Strict action will also be taken against those who make videos while consuming drugs and post them on social media.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Manoj Kumar stated that no leniency will be shown towards those involved in the drug trade, and the strictest possible action will be taken against them. He instructed the police to identify such individuals and ensure strict legal action against them. Dr. Manoj Kumar was addressing a meeting regarding crime identification and enforcement, with officials from various departments present.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized in the meeting that drug addiction is a major issue in society and is ruining many lives. He added that Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini has given clear instructions to completely eradicate this menace from society. He called for identifying and taking strict action against those selling drugs. If drug use or sale is happening in any educational institution or other public places, strict action should be taken there as well.

Dr. Manoj Kumar also pointed out that some people create videos while using drugs or smoking, and then post these on social media. He instructed the police to identify such individuals and take appropriate action against them. Police Commissioner Narendra Kadian informed that a list of such individuals has already been prepared and action is underway.

Dr. Manoj Kumar also mentioned that, according to the report presented by the police, seven cases under the NDPS Act were registered in December 2024, and ten individuals were arrested. A total of 4.518 kg of cannabis, 11.740 kg of poppy husk, 1.500 kg of opium, 3.577 kg of hashish, and 113.59 grams of heroin were seized from them.

He further mentioned that from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, a total of 102 cases were registered under the NDPS Act, and 140 people were arrested.

Dr. Manoj Kumar pointed out that some children do not attend school or college, and they are more likely to fall into the trap of drug addiction. He instructed the police department to go from village to village to identify such children and run awareness campaigns to educate them. He also urged that awareness campaigns be run in schools, colleges, and universities about the dangers of drugs. He advised all universities to monitor their surroundings and report any drug sale activities near their campuses so that timely action can be taken.

The meeting also included discussions regarding specific criminal cases. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ankita Chaudhary, Police Commissioner Narendra Kadian, SDM Amit Kumar, and officials from all departments were present at the meeting.
