Operation Dosti: RPF's Drive to Stop Stone-Pelting and Chain Pulling in Trains

In a bid to control rising incidents of chain pulling and stone-pelting on trains, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched an awareness campaign named Operation Dosti. As part of this initiative, the RPF is educating passengers and residents living near railway tracks about the dangers and consequences of such acts.

This move comes after recent incidents of stone-pelting on premium trains like the Vande Bharat and Shatabdi Express in the past month, which posed serious safety risks to passengers. The Delhi-Ambala rail corridor witnesses movement of nearly 200 trains daily, and several stone-pelting incidents have been reported between Sonipat and Narela stations.

Such actions not only endanger lives but also disrupt train services. To address the issue, RPF officials, led by Station In-charge Sangam Yadav, conducted awareness drives at Sonipat and Rathdhana stations on Sunday, informing passengers about the risks and legal consequences of placing stones on tracks, pelting stones at trains, or pulling chains unnecessarily.

Two major incidents in a month:

July 11: Amritsar Shatabdi Express was attacked with stones between Rathdhana and Sonipat stations.

June 13: Vande Bharat Express, en route from Chandigarh to Ajmer via Delhi, was pelted with stones near Sonipat around 3:45 PM.
